War Widows Association is a registered organization under the Society Registration Act of 1860 (Registration No. 5230 of 1971-1972), established in 1971 to serve the families of Indian defence personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. For over 52 years, we have been working relentlessly in the service of Veer Naries (war widows).
We function as an institutional body that bridges the gap between the families of martyrs and the support systems available to them. Our work encompasses welfare assistance, legal support, financial guidance, educational support, and advocacy at various levels of governance. We are essentially a pressure group that responds to queries and requests from war widows who want their rights to be honoured.
The organization is committed to maintaining the highest standards of service, transparency, and accountability in all its operations. We operate with the understanding that the families we serve deserve nothing less than the dignity and respect accorded to their loved ones who served the nation. War Widows Association has received consultative status with ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council), enabling us to participate in ECOSOC meetings at the United Nations, New York.
